The first project started by BASFA was our equipment donation program. Working with Cephas y. Adonoo of the Peace Unity and the Development of Africa (PEAUDA) organization, BASFA solicited donations of baseball equipment and shipped those items through the USAID to the Ghana Baseball and Softball Association. Please click here for more information on the BASFA equipment donation program.
BASFA has also helped to bring players from Ghana to the Bucky Dent Baseball School in Delray, Florida, USA. We plan to expand this program in 2007.
African teams and leagues are seeking corporate and individual sponsors to help with both operating costs and trips to international tournaments. Sponsoring an African team is a great way to make a big difference in children's lives while promoting your product or brand. You might be surprised how little it costs to get international exposure through our sponsorship program.
While countries with a long tradition of baseball and softball leagues have no problem finding qualified coaches and umpires, African leagues are faced not only with the challenge of training players, but also of finding and training coaches and umpires. In 2007, we are initiating a program of bringing experienced baseball and softball coaches to Africa to train players, coaches, and umpires.
